Este curso muestra los contenidos y las herramientas de aprendizaje necesarias para todo aquel especialista sanitario que se enfrenta a una visita médica con pacientes infantiles y juveniles con patología psiquiátrica.
La Psiquiatría del niño y del adolescente se caracteriza por la complejidad de los temas que estudia y el reto de llevar a la práctica clínica los resultados de la investigación. Llegar al diagnóstico correcto y decidir el mejor tratamiento en un entorno en constante evolución explica la existencia de formación continuada que permita al especialista la puesta al día en los avances científicos para su correcta aplicación en la práctica diaria. Este curso pretende dar una visión científica y humana de las enfermedades psiquiátricas de los niños, las vicisitudes de las familias, los métodos más apropiados de diagnóstico y tratamiento o las dudas y perplejidades que forman parte del día a día.
El Máster está dividido en dos partes:
La primera, que permite la obtención del título propio de Experto en Psiquiatría del Niño y del Adolescente, aborda aspectos fundamentales como la ética, la psicofarmacología del niño y del adolescente, la epidemiología o los últimos avances en neurobiología. Además, incluye temas sobre los diferentes trastornos de la conducta y del desarrollo como el TDAH, el uso de sustancias, los trastornos del humor o los tics. Esta parte finaliza con el abordaje de situaciones especiales como la atención en Urgencias, la interconsulta con Pediatría o la psicopatología en preescolares.
La segunda parte del Máster consta de varios módulos sobre los fundamentos de la Psiquiatría, las herramientas de evaluación y diagnóstico, los trastornos psiquiátricos, las medidas terapéuticas, el tratamiento farmacológico, las psicoterapias, los aspectos de formación y el asesoramiento de los padres. Para poder obtener el título será necesario realizar un Trabajo fin de Máster que será evaluado por el equipo docente.
- Proporcionar conocimientos teóricos relevantes basados en la evidencia científica y la formación teórico-práctica, básica y avanzada, sobre los trastornos psiquiátricos de la infancia y la adolescencia.
- Ejercer un sentido crítico sobre la evaluación diagnóstica, el diagnóstico diferencial y el tratamiento aplicado a la psiquiatría infantil y juvenil.
- Adquirir las competencias clínicas necesarias para el correcto desempeño de la especialidad.
- Familiarizar al especialista con los instrumentos de evaluación, detección y diagnóstico de trastornos mentales en la infancia y juventud.
- Introducir al alumno en la resolución de preguntas clínicas concretas mediante el uso de las estrategias diagnósticas y terapéuticas planteadas.
- Actualizar los conocimientos del médico en las diferentes terapias utilizadas en la especialidad.
- Permitir al médico la aplicación en la práctica clínica de la recogida de información relevante, la elaboración de una historia clínica, la realización de una evaluación y conclusión diagnóstica o el planteamiento de tratamiento de diferentes problemas encontrados en psiquiatría infantil y juvenil mediante casos clínicos.

El curso ha sido diseñado de acuerdo a las directrices del EES (Espacio Europeo de Educación Superior) y la superación de los criterios de calificación supondrá la obtención de un Certificado académico electrónico de la superación de un título propio de Máster otorgado por el Instituto de Formación Continua-IL3 de la Universidad de Barcelona equivalente a 60 créditos ECTS (European Credit Transfer System).

La metodología docente del Máster en Práctica Clínica en Psiquiatría del Niño y del Adolescente, pone el foco en el estudio y en la actualización de los fundamentos teóricos, así como el entrenamiento y la simulación de la aplicación de dichos conocimientos a la práctica clínica. De esta forma, el alumno es capaz de realizar un análisis crítico de la materia y desarrollar las competencias necesarias para tener un criterio de calidad en la atención al paciente. Con el objetivo de alcanzar los objetivos docentes, este curso cuenta con diferentes recursos didácticos: temario completo, textos destacados en cada parte, conclusiones de cada unidad, figuras y tablas de apoyo, casos clínicos o lecturas recomendadas, recursos audiovisuales – videoclases – y tutorías online.
Módulo 1. Aspectos generales
- Psicofarmacología en niños y adolescentes.
- Estrategia y modalidades terapéuticas (terapia cognitivoconductal, test neuropsicológicos y tratamiento multimodal).
- Principios éticos de la práctica diaria en psiquiatría del niño y del adolescente.
Módulo 2. Manejo de los trastornos de conducta
- Diagnóstico y manejo del trastorno por déficit de atención e hiperactividad (TDAH).
- Diagnóstico y manejo del abuso de sustancias en adolescentes.
- Trastornos del comportamiento.
- Diagnóstico y manejo de los trastornos de Tourette y de tics.
Módulo 3. Manejo de los trastornos emocionales y del desarrollo
- Diagnóstico y manejo de los trastornos de ansiedad en niños y adolescentes.
- Diagnóstico y manejo de los trastornos del humor en niños y adolescentes.
- Diagnóstico y manejo de la conducta alimentaria.
- Diagnóstico y manejo del Trastorno Generalizado del Desarrollo (TEA).
Módulo 4. Abordaje de situaciones especiales
- Psicopatología en preescolares.
- Urgencias.
- Nuevas tecnologías.
- Familia: separaciones y familias monoparentales.
- Interconsulta con pediatría.
Módulo 5. Fundamentos de la formación e investigación
- Los pilares de la psiquiatría: clínica, formación e investigación.
- La perspectiva histórica: de dónde y hacia dónde.
- Psiquiatría de la evidencia. El tratamiento que se basa en pruebas.
Módulo 6. Evaluación y diagnóstico
- Evaluación y diagnóstico de los adolescentes. El encuentro médico-paciente.
- Evaluación y diagnóstico del niño pequeño. Un reto de la práctica diaria.
- Pruebas de imagen. Utilidad para la clínica y para la investigación.
Módulo 7. Trastornos psiquiátricos
- Trastorno del Espectro Autista: complejidades de la evaluación, diagnóstico y tratamiento.
- Interferencias parentales: el conflicto en la familia como factor de riesgo de psicopatología.
- Trastorno de estrés postraumático. Presentación clínica, evaluación, diagnóstico diferencial y recomendaciones terapéuticas.
- Fracaso escolar y trastornos del aprendizaje. Características clínicas, evaluación, diagnóstico y diagnóstico diferencial y recomendaciones terapéuticas.
- Suicidio de adolescentes: detectar, prevenir y tratar.
- Agresividad y violencia. El joven, la familia y la sociedad.

- Trabajo de Fin de Máster
Estructura: el Trabajo de Fin de Máster consiste en la elaboración de un caso clínico. El objetivo es comunicar a la comunidad médica los resultados obtenidos de una historia clínica que, por la evolución del paciente, el tratamiento utilizado, o los resultados obtenidos, es relevante para la práctica clínica.
Formato: la extensión deberá ser de entre 3000 y 5000 palabras de texto. Además deberá aportar al menos 3 tablas o figuras y 20 referencias bibliográficas.
Criterios de calificación:
- Forma de presentación del caso
- Originalidad del caso
- Razonamiento del alumno sobre las aportaciones de cada referencia y su relación con el caso presentado
- Conclusiones.
